Tarantella, Microsoft and Esprinet Offer Comprehensive Terminal Services Bundle With Bankable Reseller, Customer Advantages

SANTA CRUZ, Calif., July 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Re-enforcing market acceptance of Tarantella Secure Global Desktop Terminal Services Edition (TSE) as the ultimate companion to Microsoft Terminal Services, Tarantella today announced a bundle offering with Microsoft and Italian distributor, Esprinet, to provide Microsoft's Windows Server 2003 product, Terminal Services Client Access Licenses (TS-CAL) and Tarantella Secure Global Desktop TSE, through Esprinet, to the Italian marketplace.

This unique agreement provides customers with an easy, convenient way to purchase everything they need to deploy a secure, remote, server-based computing or thin client infrastructure: Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with TS-CALs and Tarantella's Secure Global Desktop TSE.

Secure Global Desktop TSE offers a wide range of enhancements to Microsoft's Windows Terminal Services, including enhanced security for Internet-based application access, load balancing for managing larger numbers of users and servers and policy-based application management to ensure appropriate access at the user level. In addition, Secure Global Desktop TSE's native support for the RDP protocol to access applications allows customers to preserve their investment in Microsoft IT infrastructure.

The agreement is unique from a channel perspective in that it offers Microsoft and Tarantella's products, as well as support, on a single SKU. This provides resellers the opportunity to extend their offerings along the value chain and provide customers with a compelling and complete secure remote access solution. Resellers can also expect the combination of Windows Server 2003 and Terminal Services Edition has been certified, and will be distributed and supported, by their partner Esprinet.

Two different SKUs will be available for the reseller/end customer to choose from: bundle A includes a Windows Server 2003 license with 5 Client Access Licenses (CALs), 5 TS-CALs and a maintenance contract for 5 TSE users. Bundle B includes 5 TS-CALs and a maintenance contract for 5 TSE users. The promotion became available to the channel as of June 16, and will last through September 30, 2004. It is available to all of Esprinet's resellers in Italy.
