Posted on: Tuesday, 13 July 2004, 06:00 CDT
SANTA CLARA, Calif., July 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Extreme Networks, Inc. , the leader in broadband Ethernet networking, is continuing its commitment to secure, converged IP networks by supporting Microsoft's newly announced Network Access Protection (NAP) technology. NAP will allow Extreme Networks and Microsoft's customers to combat many significant threats to today's networks, including the proliferation of viruses at the edge of the network.
As a part of Extreme Networks' comprehensive approach to providing secure and available networks, Extreme Networks will extend the functionality of Network Access Protection technology with enhancements to network access policies, further strengthening the Network Access Protection solution at the Layer 2/3 switch.
"Extreme Networks is committed to keeping our customer's networks secure and available, and Network Access Protection technology will further our ability to deliver on that promise," said Siva Ananmalay, vice president of engineering at Extreme Networks. "Extreme Networks will bring enhanced security to the network infrastructure through closer integration with the desktop and server operating systems, complementing Microsoft's expertise and market leadership in those areas."
Extreme Networks will deliver its first Network Access Protection technology enhancements in conjunction with the release of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Update in 2005.
"Through key partnerships with industry leaders in the broadband Ethernet networking space, Network Access Protection is designed to deliver an industry leading solution that protects corporate assets by ensuring system security policy compliance," said Steve Anderson, director of product management in the Windows Server Group at Microsoft Corp. "We are pleased to be working with Extreme Networks, whose innovation in data networking, is helping to make Network Access Protection technology strong from the desktop to the heart of the corporate IT network."
As previously announced, Extreme Networks is also participating in the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), an open industry standards organization whose specifications help vendors build products that let users protect critical data and information. Extreme Networks' participation in these security efforts creates more options for customers to deploy and manage secure networks and respond to ongoing threats.
