Tokyo, July 13 (Jiji Press)--Softbank BB Corp., the operator of broadband Internet services, is offering an optical fiber Internet service at a rate lower than rivals' prices, it was learned Tuesday.
Softbank BB offers the optical fiber service at a monthly rate of about 2,000 yen to condominium residents on a trial basis, compared with 3,000 yen offered by NTT East Corp. and NTT West Corp. for similar services.
Softbank BB has not announced its rate for the optical fiber service on the ground that it has yet to start the service on a commercial basis. But the rate was revealed in a plan announced Tuesday by Joint Corp., a medium-sized condominium developer, to introduce the service in all of its new condominiums.
The current mainstay business of Softbank BB, a subsidiary of Softbank Corp. , is a broadband service based on the asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) technology.END
