Cyveillance Powers Security 2.0 With Reputation Data on Over 90 Million Domains
Posted on: Tuesday, 7 November 2006, 09:00 CST
Cyveillance, the leading provider of online risk monitoring and management solutions, today announced the launch of the Cyveillance Site Safety Index (CSSI), the first security solution to provide reputation ratings for over 90 million domains. Available immediately to security vendors, ISPs and search portals, CSSI can be integrated into existing solutions to identify Web sites that contain illegal or malicious content including those involved with identity theft, malware, spyware, adware, phishing, pornography, gambling and other objectionable content.
Presenting comprehensive intelligence about Web sites, CSSI correlates a broad set of attributes, including downloads, behaviors, site content and affiliations to calculate a single score that represents the risk level associated with visiting any given Web site. The continuously updated database assigns risk ratings to nearly every site on the Internet independent of their popularity, location or language.
"With instances of malicious online content and identity theft growing higher everyday, Internet users rely on their ISPs and security vendors to not only stop attacks but to help proactively prevent exposure to these risks," said Panos Anastassiadis, CEO of Cyveillance. "By utilizing the comprehensive reputation data and risk assessment intelligence provided by CSSI, ISPs and security vendors can provide Internet users with the protection and safe online environment they have come to expect."
CSSI is comprised of specific Web site characteristics, that when combined provide an overall risk factor for a given Web site. These components include:
Site Risk Rating Score -- An overall score of risk posed to users based on a collection of Web site attributes that cause a negative impact on the Web surfer.
Behavior -- The behavioral aspects of a Web site such as pop ups, browser hi-jacks, and auto redirects.
Phishing -- Information about whether the Web site is involved in a phishing attack
Malware -- Downloads available on a site that contains malware, spyware, or adware.
Objectionable content -- Information about whether or not the Web site contains pornographic or gambling content.
Affiliations -- Information about a Web site's relationships with other Web sites.
CSSI is powered by adaptive, automated technology that proactively tests Web sites to determine their trustworthiness. To evaluate sites, the technology downloads files, analyzes content and monitors Web site behaviors. The use of behavior, text and signature-based approaches enables CSSI to identify both known and unknown risks allowing for the warning or blocking of access to these sites by ISPs, next generation security products and Web 2.0 services.
