Class of 3000 Scores As Cartoon Network's Biggest Original Series Premiere Since 2004

Cartoon Network's Class of 3000 from André"3000" Benjamin (OutKast) and Tom Lynch (Romeo!), earned the network's highest kids 6-11, boys 6-11 and boys 2-11 delivery and ratings performance for an original series premiere since 2004, according to preliminary data from Nielsen Media Research. The animated series, featuring original music from André"3000" Benjamin, also ranked as Friday night's (7 p.m.-12 a.m.) #1 telecast on all television--both broadcast and cable--among boys 6-11 and boys 2-11. Compared to the same time period last year, the 8 p.m. premiere charted impressive double-digit gains across all target demos, including kids 6-11 and kids 2-11 delivery and ratings. A Saturday morning encore presentation at 10 a.m. also earned significant double-digit growth.
Highlights for Class of 3000's premiere performance vs. the same 2005 time period include the following:

Kids 6-11 delivery (1,049,000) increased by 52%, and ratings (4.3) by 54%
Kids 2-11 delivery (1,378,000) grew by 37%, and ratings (3.4) by 36%
Boys 6-11 delivery (818,000) expanded by 79%, and ratings (6.6) by 78%
Boys 2-11 delivery (1,023,000) jumped by 53%, and ratings (5.0) by 52%
Class of 3000 Encore (Sat. 10 a.m.,) vs. the same 2005 time period
Kids 6-11 delivery (683,000) improved by 24%, and ratings (2.8) by 22%
Kids 2-11 delivery (942,000) advanced by 29%, and ratings (2.4) by 33%
Boys 6-11 delivery (503,000) and ratings (4.1) both surged ahead by 52%
Boys 2-11 delivery (672,000) grew by 44%, and ratings (3.3) by 43%
"We're extremely pleased by Class of 3000's premiere performance last Friday, particularly with its #1 ranking for the night among boys," said Jim Samples, executive vice president and general manager, Cartoon Network. "Audience response to the series has been overwhelmingly positive. It's just what we hoped for."
The previous best-performing original series was Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, which earned the network's best kids 6-11 delivery and ratings at its 7:30 p.m. premiere on Friday, Aug. 13, 2004.
Class of 3000, created and executive produced by André"3000" Benjamin and Tom Lynch, focuses on a group of musically-gifted kids at The Westley School for the Performing Arts and a music superstar named Sunny Bridges who returns to his former Alma Mater to bring sunshine to their lives.
