At&T Global Services Sees Forest and Trees in $2.3 M Nexfor Deal
TORONTO – AT&T Global Services Canada announced it has inked a threeyear, $2.3-million deal with Nexfor Inc., a North American forest products company, to provide an integrated, fully managed networking system integrating 20 Nexfor sites in Canada, the U.S. and Europe. AT&T will deploy a global IP-based virtual private network for Nexfor, connecting 6,500 employees, and will become Nexfor’s primary communications provider.
Under the agreement, which is an expansion of an existing relationship, AT&T will consolidate three legacy Frame Relay networks and will migrate Nexfor’s existing infrastructure to a seamless, fully managed, multi-protocol label switching (MPLS)- based IP VPN. Nexfor will run its financial, sales, mill management, intranet, e-mail, file and print services, and other applications on this network.
AT&T will also provide business Internet access, which enables dedicated direct Internet access that is globally consistent, as well as Remote Access Services to Nexfor’s North American employees, allowing them to securely connect to headquarters and access the tools and information needed on a daily basis.
