Scientific Atlanta, a Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO) company, today announced its MPEG-4 HDTV Advanced Compression Encoder (Model D9054™) has been acknowledged as an International CES Innovations 2007 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree by the Consumer Electronics Association. Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the trade press to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting-edge consumer electronics products.
"Consumers are wild about the remarkable, crisp video images that are possible in the HD entertainment experience," said Dean Rockwell, vice president and general manager, Digital Media Networks at Scientific-Atlanta. "That popular viewing experience begins with the high-quality, reliable HD encoding provided by our newest MPEG-4 HD encoder. This award validates our heritage of high-quality encoding products and is testament to all the work Scientific Atlanta and its customer have invested in delivering the best possible HD experience for consumers."
The Scientific Atlanta® D9054 Advanced Video Coding (AVC) encoder greatly expands the capabilities of the company's encoding portfolio. It adds the latest compression technology to the resources available to cable, satellite and telco video operators, broadcasters, and service providers, provides bandwidth maximization technology to support advanced services, and accelerates customers' ability to launch new or expanded customer-driven services such as HD and VOD. Already deployed at multiple sites around the world, the new D9054 AVC MPEG-4 encoder provides a flexible, expandable, versatile, single-slice encoding architecture designed to deliver superior performance for years to come.
The D9054 encoder award follows the 2006 CES recognition of Scientific Atlanta's MCP-100™ DVR with DVD Recorder/Player as a "Best of Innovations" CES award winner, and the company's DPC2223™ VoIP cable modem with DECT which was a CES Design and Engineering Honoree.
