TimesTen to Power Wireless Communication System for Motorola

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 19 /PRNewswire/ -- TimesTen, Inc., a provider of real-time infrastructure software, announced today that TimesTen(R) has been selected by Motorola, a leading provider of wireless communication systems, for use in the NetDispatch Messenger(TM) application of Motorola's Harmony Wireless Communication System(TM). TimesTen was selected by Motorola's Global Telecom Solutions Sector (GTSS) to significantly reduce call set-up times for two-way dispatch calling and messaging between portable wireless handset users and PC users.
Motorola's Harmony Wireless Communication System provides mobile work groups with a proven solution for wireless communications. It combines the best features of two-way radio, cellular telephone, packet data and paging into one integrated portable unit, enabling businesses to increase worker productivity and help reduce telecommunication costs. Customers of the system include utilities, manufacturing and financial services firms, hospitality organizations, public telecom carriers and campuses.
The NetDispatch Messenger services offer rich communication features such as one-to-one dispatch communications between personal computer users and either wireless handsets or other personal computer users. Additionally, the application provides services such as user-defined group calls, instant dispatch messaging, dispatch voicemail, and presence and availability information.
TimesTen is used within Motorola's NetDispatch advance services platform and NetDispatch Messenger application to do the following:
-- manage subscriber information
-- perform user and feature authentication
-- manage call resource and call detail records
-- establish time-sensitive communications
