Espial's Brian Mahony Named "Top 100 Voice" for IP Communications Over the Past Decade

Posted on: Monday, 13 November 2006, 12:00 CST

OTTAWA, Nov. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Espial(R) IPTV, the leading provider of IPTV middleware and applications, today announced that Brian Mahony, Vice President of Marketing, was named one of the Top 100 Voices of IP Communications by INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine. The honor recognizes telecom industry leaders who over the past decade drove the development and adoption of the IP communications industry.

Mahony was selected by an editorial committee that reviewed ten years of INTERNET TELEPHONY's industry coverage to identify the leading voices and proponents who played an instrumental role in moving the industry forward. Mahony was featured in the magazine's landmark 100th issue in October that honored the Top 100 Voices of IP Communications.

"I share this honor with all of my teams over the years including my current and very capable team at Espial," said Mahony. "To be named alongside such a prestigious bunch including John Chambers, Ivan Seidenberg, Pat Russo, and Michael Powell is indeed an honor and very humbling. My only goal is to offer the same level of effort helping to continue Espial's leadership in the rapidly emerging IPTV market."

Espial's products are being deployed to over 500,000 IPTV subscribers and the company was recently named the #1 IPTV client middleware vendor by ABI Research. With key customers such as NTT, Belgacom, OnCommand, LodgeNet, Auroras and partners including Siemens/Myrio, Motorola, Sumitomo, Tilgin, Amino, Dasan, Thomson, and Philips, Espial's leadership in IPTV and consumer services spans over nine years. Over 2.5 million consumers have already experienced Espial technology, from hotel interactive TV and VOD services through OnCommand and LodgeNet, to interactive interfaces in BMW vehicles and Hitachi TVs, to leading deployments with Telcos in the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

"Our committee looked back over the course of the last decade, and came up with 100 people who we felt should be counted among the Top 100 Voices," said Rich Tehrani, president and editor-in-chief for INTERNET TELEPHONY and the TMC(R) publishing group. "Some were present at the beginning. Some are newer participants in our community. Some are developers whose technological innovations still resonate within the evolving telecom arena. Some are marketers who developed the messaging that helped propel the industry ahead."

Espial's Evo(R) IPTV Service Platform is in high demand by carriers rolling out IPTV services. Evo's modularity, turbo-fast performance, and openness have attracted service provider customers across the globe and driven Espial's IPTV revenue growth to 100% annually over the past three years. Evo is the only IPTV platform available that allows operators to purchase best-of-breed components separately or as part of a pre-integrated client-server middleware solution.
