"Kappa Mikey" -- Popular Nickelodeon and Nicktoons Network Animated Comedy Series -- Debuts Free "Clip of the Week" on KappaMikey.Com and Podcast on iTunes
Posted on: Monday, 13 November 2006, 12:00 CST
Beginning Friday, November 17th, fans of "Kappa Mikey" -- the popular animated comedy series that airs on Nickelodeon (Sundays, 11:00am ET) and Nicktoons Network (check local listings) -- will be able to download a free "Clip of the Week" every Friday, the show's creator, Animation Collective, announced. The free, weekly clip will be available on www.kappamikey.com, the show's web site, and will also be podcasted on iTunes. Fans can also sign up for an RSS feed of the "Clip of the Week" on the show's web site.
The "Kappa Mikey""Clip of the Week" will feature hilarious content from the breakout Nicktoons Network hit anime comedy series about a struggling American actor-turned-Japanese anime star. The show is MTV Networks' first global acquisition and is the first anime show created and produced in the U.S. and not in Asia.
This week's debut clip features a scene from the "Lost in Transportation" episode during which the cast of LilyMu is scheduled to perform at the birthday party of the son of a major advertiser. Mikey decides he can get there on his own and proceeds to get lost in Tokyo. As the cast does all they can to stall for him, Mikey joins a Tokyo motorbike gang and eventually becomes their leader.
The 52-episode series is written like a sitcom and the story is a show-within-a-show. Each episode takes place on and off the set of "LilyMu," a fictional Japanese TV series starring once-struggling American actor, Mikey Simon, as he adjusts to his new role as "Kappa Mikey," the biggest anime star Japan has ever seen. With its distinct style -- a combination of American and Japanese animation styles -- Mikey, drawn in thick-lined Pop Graphic style, is the only character on the show not depicted in anime. The series contains many pop-culture references and jokes for kids and adults alike.
