Network World Live's IT Roadmap: San Francisco Conference Sells Out

Posted on: Tuesday, 14 November 2006, 15:00 CST

Network World Live, producer of the IT Roadmap conference and expo series, today announced that its San Francisco conference has sold out its sponsor/exhibition space and topped 1,000 registrants for the November 30 event.

Introduced in the spring of 2006 and reaching audiences in Boston, Chicago, Dallas and the San Francisco Bay Area, the IT Roadmap series has successfully delivered meaningful content in digestible tracts to major metropolitan cities across the nation. The conference series is expanding to five cities in 2007, and will cover eight topics critical to networking professionals responsible for building, maintaining, and maximizing their corporate infrastructures.

"Very often in the rural health information technology field, we do not have time or an opportunity to evaluate many leading IT vendors. The Network World Live conference allowed me to receive answers to common issues from experts, see the current and upcoming technologies, and network with IT peers," said Brenna Mock Guice, IS Technician for Richland Parish Hospital.

"Wow -- great conference. Informative courses that tell it like it is in the real world of IT. I will be going again next year and will bring colleagues. Thanks Network World!" Chad Lightfoot, MCSE, CCEA Citrix/WAN Administrator for Renaissance Group.

IT Roadmap: San Francisco will explore the eight topic areas identified as the highest priorities to network IT decision-makers as they plan improvements and allocate IT budgets for their companies. Those topics are:

Application & Content Security

The New Data Center

Enterprise Mobility

Network Management

Storage & Data Compliance

VoIP & Collaboration

Network & Application Acceleration

Network Access Control

IT All-Stars

One of the best-received components of the IT Roadmap conference content is the end-user panel made up of Network World Enterprise All-Stars. Drawn from Network World's pool of 50 Enterprise All-Stars, an annual review of exceptional uses of technology in key industries, a panel of experienced executives kicks off the conference by sharing their expertise, strategies and insights with Network World Editor-in-Chief John Dix.

Sharing details of their real-world networking projects, implementations, and expertise, and ensuring that IT Roadmap: San Francisco attendees return to work with actionable strategies, will be:

Vikas Khorana, Network Engineer, Las Vegas Review Journal: Khorana is responsible for network, storage and security at the Las Vegas Review Journal offices, which serve as corporate headquarters for Stephens Media LLC, publisher of 13 daily newspapers, 45 weekly or biweekly publications, plus magazines and books.

Christopher Paidhrin, Chief Security Officer, Southwest Washington Medical Center: Paidhrin oversaw the installation of biometric readers and the deployment of Imprivata's OneSign ESSO appliance, vastly simplifying the process for medical staffers signing onto shared computers throughout the day.

Joseph Schuldhaus, VP of IT, West Edmonton Mall: Schuldhaus was part of the team that envisioned and built a wireless network to serve the Edmonton, Alberta mall, which features three hotels, eight amusement parks, 21 theaters, 110 restaurants, and 800 shops. It is the largest Wi-Fi-enabled entertainment and retail center on the planet.

Expert IT Advice

In addition to a keynote address provided by Network World President & Editorial Director John Gallant, which highlights the changing roles and responsibilities of IT in the coming decade, attendees will benefit from presentations given in the highly focused tech tracks.

Each of the eight tracks begins with a topic overview and a look at how the area is evolving, presented by an industry analyst. This is complemented by an enterprise IT leader's candid talk, sharing best practices relating to the topic area. Presenters will include:

Application & Content Security - Kostas Konstantinides, Director of Schwab.Com Client Web Services

The New Data Center - Christopher Paidhrin, Chief Security Officer of Southwest Washington Medical Center

Enterprise Mobility - A panel of Cisco customers

Network Management - Andrew Brill, Team Lead/Consultant Specialist at Kaiser Permanente

Storage & Data Compliance - Vikas Khorana, Network Engineer at Las Vegas Review Journal
