BellSouth Offers a Convenient Online Service to Simplify Customers' Moving Process

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 2, 2003--With more than 40 million people relocating each year(a), and June through August being the busiest months to move, BellSouth today announces an easy-to-use online service to help customers streamline setting up voice and data services for their new homes. To help manage the moving process, customers will be able to transfer or sign-up for BellSouth services online, and as a thank you, they can choose from select housewarming gifts from TARGET(R).

Recognizing that moving can be one of the most stressful times in a person's life, BellSouth offers customers online convenience 24 hours a day. New customers can go to www.bellsouth.com/move and select from BellSouth's full breadth of service offerings, including local, long distance, Internet and Cingular(R) Wireless, which are all available on one BellSouth bill. Existing customers can transfer their current services and also add BellSouth(R) Long Distance service at the same Web site.

Customers who are moving may also register for the BellSouth(R) MovExpress(R) Service, a free change of address service that helps a customer notify companies they do business with or organizations they receive information from. This includes catalog subscriptions, frequent flyer clubs, alumni associations and credit card companies. All information provided by the customer is only used for the purposes of the change of address service.

"We want to make life easier for our customers, which is why we provide all of the communications services they need on one bill and with one point of contact for great customer service," said Joey Schultz, vice president, BellSouth Consumer Services. "By offering an online solution to transfer or establish service, and by offering to notify everyone about their new address and phone number, we are hopefully simplifying our customers' moving process."

Now through August 31, 2003, residential customers who transfer or establish BellSouth service online will be able to choose from select housewarming gifts from TARGET(R). Customers also will receive 10 percent off of their next purchase at target.com or fields.com. In addition, they will receive a free electronic moving announcement, to send to family and friends, from BellSouth.

Moving Tips

Some tips to consider when establishing or transferring home phone, Internet and wireless services include:

-- Identify what services you would like by preparing a list and

prioritizing services by importance.

-- Ask your existing service provider what benefits they offer,

such as discounts for signing up for more than one service or

consolidating all charges on one bill.

-- Evaluate service providers based on their reliability and

longevity, or you may be looking for a new provider again in a

short period of time.
