The 140 members of the Trusted Computing Group have elected representatives from Fujitsu Limited, Seagate Technology and Wave Systems Corp. to the organization's board of directors for a one-year term. Trusted Computing Group (TCG) is an open industry standards organization whose specifications help vendors build products that let users protect critical data and information across a variety of devices and platforms.
The new board members were elected to a one-year term. The board, whose membership includes AMD, HP, IBM, Infineon, Intel, Lenovo, Microsoft and Sun, guides the members and its work groups in development of industry specifications for hardware and software that protect PCs and other computing devices from attacks of critical information and transactions.
In the past year, TCG has released specifications to secure data and transactions on mobile phones; use cases for securing data at rest; and additional specifications for Trusted Network Connect network access control. Central to Trusted Computing is the Trusted Platform Module, or TPM, a set of security building blocks that enable storage of protected passwords, digital keys and certificates. Desktop PCs, notebook PCs and servers with TPMs are available today from virtually all PC vendors worldwide.
More information and the organization's specifications and work groups are available at the Trusted Computing Group's website, www.trustedcomputinggroup.org.
