MTV Networks Wednesday announced a series of weekly musical concerts on its new cable network, the Music High-Definition Channel.

The first of the weekly exclusive concerts on the high-definition channel is scheduled to air Saturday night, with a show by country singer Reba McEntire, said an MTV Networks news release.

The concert series will continue with shows from artists such as rapper Snoop Dogg, Australian rockers Jet and the iconic Southern rock group, Lynyrd Skynyrd.

High-definition television is just starting to take off and we’re excited to be at the forefront of this amazing entertainment experience, said MHD General Manager Eric Sherman. As we’re confirming with today’s announcement, MHD combines the best brands in music — MTV, VH1 and CMT — with one-of-a-kind musical entertainment that gives music fans the same experience in their living room as sitting in the front row of their favorite artists’ concert.
