Posted on: Tuesday, 21 November 2006, 12:00 CST

A new independent buyer's guide which evaluates e-mail service providers (ESPs) rates highly Harte-Hanks Postfuture, the e-mail messaging offering of Harte-Hanks, Inc. (NYSE: HHS), the company announced today.

E-mail Marketing Buyer's Guide, 2006, researched and published last month by JupiterResearch, provides an evaluation of 28 vendors, examining their overall value, suitability and breadth on the distinct needs of service-oriented, small- and mid-sized businesses, and large enterprises. Harte-Hanks Postfuture was cited as a "highly valuable and suitable leader" among "large-enterprise-oriented e-mail service providers."

Primary author and JupiterResearch Lead Analyst David Daniels wrote, "[Harte-Hanks Postfuture] enhanced its already usable application with an updated user interface and message sequencer, improving the ability to string together multiple mailings into a continuity campaign. The company also offers good content management provisions, including the ability to retire content and retain it within the image library."

The JupiterResearch report ranked "usabilty of the application" as the most important feature when selecting an e-mail application.

Further, the report cited the automated A/B testing capability of Harte-Hanks Postfuture, Enterprise Edition Version 5.0. "Its approach to testing is somewhat unique: it has the ability to automatically send the winning version of an A/B test mailing after certain performance metrics are achieved," the report stated.

"When people today interact with brands, they increasingly use e-mail among a variety of communication channels," said Kathy Calta, corporate officer and senior vice president, Harte-Hanks, Inc. "We believe JupiterResearch's placement of Harte-Hanks Postfuture among the leaders of the marketplace appropriately recognizes the efforts of our company to design and build an analytics-friendly e-mail offering that enables users to dialogue with prospects and customers very easily, and doing so in a way that enables data-driven relevant messages that serve the brand."

"Many of our clients are in fact large, multichannel marketers that seek to fully integrate e-mail messaging into their customer interaction strategies," Calta said. "Harte-Hanks helps our clients optimize the dialogues they have with their customers. Harte-Hanks Postfuture, with its expertise in the e-mail space, enables that optimization."
