PETALUMA, Calif. and NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Nov. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- QUAD, developer of an innovative Converged Delivery Platform (CDP) that integrates rich media content and data into one seamless converged system, and OpenClovis Inc., provider of the premier open source, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) application service platform, today announced that QUAD will integrate the OpenClovis Application Service Platform (ASP) into its flagship product -- the 1SYSTEM(TM) CDP.
QUAD's 1SYSTEM pre-integrates the four key elements of service delivery, MPSC (management, processing, storage and communications), into a single chassis. It is designed for service providers that want to migrate to a single silo to deliver multiple services, such as video on demand, IPTV and online video games. The 1SYSTEM may also be used to distribute a version of the new quadruple-play that includes voice, video, data and also mobile wireless content. QUAD converges the best from blade frames, storage disk arrays, telecom platforms and management into one NEBS (Network Equipment Building Systems)-compliant chassis.
"It was difficult to find a partner that could think outside the box, but OpenClovis has a product road map that perfectly matches QUAD's vision for the future," said Ken Hubbard, VP of Marketing, QUAD. "The OpenClovis ASP solution complements our own unique hardware architecture, gives us flexibility and allows us to accelerate our development process."
The OpenClovis ASP provides a complete off-the-shelf, standards aligned, manageability and high availability software solution. OpenClovis is suitable for a wide range of carrier grade network elements, and its usage ranges from broadband access devices for technologies such as DSL, PON, 3G/WiMAX, to metro Ethernet and edge switches/routers, IPTV application servers and IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) core elements.
"A broad range of digital interactive media are proliferating into the mainstream market and service providers are demanding the highest degree of reliability, scalability, security and system integrity," said Subbu Iyer, VP of Marketing, OpenClovis. "Together, the QUAD 1SYSTEM platform and OpenClovis ASP give service providers a formidable solution that speeds time to service, is built to Telco standards and quality, and significantly reduces both provisioning and operational costs."
OpenClovis products are offered and supported under a dual GNU Public License (GPL) open source and commercial license model. The open source version of the products is available for download at http://www.openclovis.org/ .

About QUAD
The QUAD 1SYSTEM(TM) is the result of a commitment by management to deliver a fully integrated, high performance, high reliability, low maintenance solution for the service provider market, based on their own past experiences as owners and operators of an Internet Service Provider business. QUAD's advanced "carrier class" architecture incorporates the attributes of blade servers together with integrated mass storage and communications functionality.
