NETGEAR Collaborates With Dutch Internet Service Provider ZeelandNet
Posted on: Tuesday, 27 July 2004, 06:00 CDT
SANTA CLARA, Calif., July 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NETGEAR(R), Inc. , a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products, announced today that Dutch Internet service provider ZeelandNet is offering multiple NETGEAR routers to its subscribers. NETGEAR anticipates this relationship with ZeelandNet to add to its sales within Europe, with the wireless models already proving particularly popular with ZeelandNet customers.
With the option of both wireless and Ethernet routers, ZeelandNet customers have found a NETGEAR router to be an easy to use solution enabling them to share Internet access, files, printers and other peripheral devices in residential networks. At ZeelandNet's Winkelplaza online shop, subscribers have a choice of three NETGEAR routers: the RP614 Web Safe Router Gateway, the NETGEAR MR814 802.11b Wireless Router, and the NETGEAR WGR614 54 Mbps Wireless Router. The WGR614 uses the 802.11g wireless standard, which is capable of providing up to five times the data throughput speed and twice the range of 802.11b wireless networking solutions.
"We're highly gratified that ZeelandNet has standardized on our routers to offer to their subscribers," said Patrick Lo, chairman and chief executive officer of NETGEAR. "NETGEAR home products have traditionally sold well in Europe but we realize that ZeelandNet had a choice of equipment vendors. The fact that they selected NETGEAR justifies our international reputation for developing high performance products with an ultra-simple set-up. We couldn't have a better partner to promote the benefits of wireless networking to the Dutch people."
A full-service Internet provider operating in the province of Zeeland, ZeelandNet has enjoyed rapid growth in recent years. Some 47% of Zeeland households now have broadband Internet access through ZeelandNet. In a bid to further improve services, ZeelandNet began offering its customers NETGEAR routers to enable multiple family members to share Internet access and peripheral devices. ZeelandNet also provides its customers with customized instruction manuals on how to integrate NETGEAR routers with the ZeelandNet network.
"More and more households want to be able to access the Internet with multiple PCs at the same time. Customers are also demonstrating a growing preference for the flexibility of a wireless connection," says Pieter van der Pol, business development manager with ZeelandNet. "You can leave it to people to sort things out themselves, but we chose instead to help our customers as much as possible. Which is what we're doing by offering them reliable equipment with an easy to follow, step-by-step manual," he added. "Our decision to work with NETGEAR equipment is based on its quality and user-friendliness. Our customers used to come to us with queries about networking equipment they had purchased but couldn't get to work properly. With the NETGEAR routers, such problems don't exist."
"Internet providers do well to offer their customers the option of utilizing their ADSL or cable connection for more than one home PC, particularly since it is becoming increasingly common for children to have their own computer. Notebooks are also gaining in popularity, for which a wireless connection is certainly ideal," adds Michel van den Berg, NETGEAR Benelux Country Manager. "ZeelandNet takes it one step further by not only offering their customers high quality and cost-effective products, but also by assisting them in installing the equipment safely and securely."
