Tire Discounters Spans Three States and Forty Five Locations With Time Warner Telecom's Ethernet and Voice Connectivity

Posted on: Thursday, 30 November 2006, 12:00 CST

CINCINNATI, Nov. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Time Warner Telecom Inc., , a leading provider of managed voice and data networking solutions for businesses, today announced a multi-year contract for its Integrated Local Area Network (ILAN), converged voice and data service to 45 Tire Discounters' stores in Dayton, Columbus and Cincinnati as well as locations in Kentucky and Indiana. The company provides full sales and service support for customers' tire needs across all three states through its retail locations.

"At one time, we had a minimum of eight different vendors providing voice and data services to our stores," said Nate Guy, IT director for Tire Discounters in Cincinnati. "The Time Warner Telecom team was able to consolidate everything onto their network and eliminate the hassles we had managing so many different contracts and vendors. This is particularly helpful to us considering the 20 additional locations we plan to open in the next couple of years. All I have to do is place one call to get them on line."

Time Warner Telecom's Integrated LAN solution offers customers a highly secure, flexible and efficient way for customers to connect multiple locations across town or across the country. The service provides scalable data, Internet and voice, including long distance, connectivity over a single connection. Businesses benefit greatly from their ability to connect locations together and share access to inventory information or shared files without the added expense of additional equipment.

"The services have been virtually plug-and-play so far. Previously, our IT team would spend at least an hour a month sorting out communications issues for our company. With this service installed at all our locations, we expect we'll be able to liberate 40 labor-hours per month to apply to other critical projects," added Guy.

The reliability of the ILAN service is a big plus. "Our store employees help customers by accessing a point-of-sale application housed on a server at our headquarters data center," stated Guy. "The uptime we've gained with Time Warner Telecom better supports that mission-critical application."

"Our Integrated LAN solution is designed to meet the needs of multi-location businesses like Tire Discounters," said Tim Raffel, general manager for Time Warner Telecom in Cincinnati. "In addition to economically streamlining point-to-point data, Internet and voice connectivity among locations, a customer's IT staff can implement the consolidation of data centers that substantially reduce costs to their business. Everyone we have approached with this solution is very enthusiastic about the chance to have such a flexible solution from one vendor and have a single bill for their voice and data charges."
