Computing Technology Industry Association Presents Best of Show Awards at SMB Summit

Posted on: Wednesday, 6 December 2006, 12:00 CST

The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), the leading trade association for the global information technology (IT) industry, recently recognized five companies that have demonstrated creativity, innovation and leadership in providing technology solutions for small and medium-sized businesses and organizations.

The companies were recognized with "best of show" awards at the recent CompTIA SMB Summit held in Tucson, Ariz. Award winners were selected based on the voting of more than 100 VIP value-added resellers and technology solution providers attending the conference.

The inaugural CompTIA SMB Summit attracted a sellout audience of attendees and exhibitors representing all facets of the IT channel. The conference focused on strategies for serving the small and medium sized business market (500 or fewer employees). Research by CompTIA and other industry sources indicates that these businesses have aggressive plans for making technology purchases over the next year, ranging from upgrades to laptop computers, to investments in wireless local area networks, to replacement or upgrade of phone systems.

The overall Best of Show award was presented to Secure Resolutions, Inc., a global leader in managed web security and malware/patch management productivity software. Secure Resolutions also received the award for Best Solutions Sales Strategy.

Other CompTIA SMB Summit awards went to:

Best Distribution and Support -- Ingram Micro Inc., the world's largest technology distributor; and a leading technology sales, marketing and logistics company.

Best Hardware Product and Best Channel Strategy -- Lexar Media, Inc., a leader in advanced digital media and accessories.

Best Presentation -- McAfee Inc., the leader in security risk management, delivering proactive and proven solutions and services that secure systems and networks around the world.

Best Software Product -- Sentillion vThere™, which leverages virtualization technology to enable users to run a contained, controlled and fully functional software environment in a virtualized desktop on computers in remote venues such as a home or branch office. This approach is considered a powerful alternative to traditional remote access solutions.

"These award winners were chosen by their peers in the industry, which is a clear indication that they are delivering technology products and solutions that are delivering value and performance for customers," said John Venator, president and chief executive officer, CompTIA. "On behalf of the 22,000 member organizations of the Computing Technology Industry Association, I congratulate all of the winners."
