BigBand Networks' VOD Edge Enables On-Demand Delivery of HDTV Content

BigBand Networks, Inc., a leading provider of broadband multimedia platform solutions for broadcast television and on-demand services, is demonstrating edge processing for VOD delivery of HDTV content, here at The National Show, booth #2255.

In the demonstration, BigBand VOD Edge performs QAM modulation and RF upconversion of HDTV content provided from a server via Gigabit Ethernet.

Market research firm The Yankee Group estimates that VOD was available to nearly seven million digital cable homes (equating to more than 30 million homes passed) at the end of 2002, with expectations for that figure to grow to 37 million digital cable homes by the end of 2006.
