Under this agreement, USA Companies can now offer voice-over-IP-based telephone service to 62,000 consumers in its territories in addition to its existing product portfolio of digital cable and high-speed Internet services.
"This agreement with Sprint allows us to broaden our bundled consumer offerings as well as begin positioning ourselves as a full-service provider, all without the need to invest in building a telecom infrastructure," said Chris Hilliard, President of USA Companies. "This enables us to launch voice services at the same pace as major cable players and better position USA Companies to retain customers and attract new subscribers with the complete bundle of products that today's consumers desire."
This agreement marks a continued expansion for Sprint into partnerships with cable providers. Sprint is leveraging its telecom assets and communications expertise to help drive this expansion and deliver telephony and wireless solutions to the cable industry.
"Sprint's network, scale and expertise allow cable companies to get to market sooner than they would if they launched voice services on their own and avoid the expense of building a stand-alone infrastructure," said Ralph Hodge, senior vice president - Cable Solutions, Sprint. "This can be especially appealing to cable operators like USA Companies that want to efficiently deliver voice services to their customers as part of their product portfolio."
Sprint offers a complete portfolio of wholesale telecom services to domestic cable operators making it possible for them to broaden their bundled consumer offerings to include voice telephony solutions, data services over Sprint's Tier 1 Internet backbone and advanced wireless services. Sprint already has announced agreements with other cable companies to provide VoIP and wireless services to customers. For more information, visit http://www.sprint.com/cable .
Partnering with Sprint enables cable operators to leverage Sprint's local, long-distance, wireless and IP networks, while taking advantage of Sprint's broad telecom expertise and management capabilities. It also frees up capital a cable operator would have invested in building a telecom infrastructure from the ground up. The addition of local telecom services represents a highly attractive opportunity to address competition, retain customers and capture new revenues with bundled services.
