Lantronix Delivers First NIST-Certified Secure Console Management and Device Networking Solutions

IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Lantronix, Inc. today announced five of its products are the first of their kind in both the console management and device networking markets to be certified by NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology), meeting the federal mandate for incorporating the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) as specified by the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 197. The products include SecureLinx SLC Console Manager, ActiveLinx Secure Console Servers (SCS820B/1620B and SCS3205/4805) as well as the company's SecureBox device servers (SDS1100 and SDS2100). Lantronix is the first and only company to offer a full range of secure devices that address both IT and non-IT, or "edge" products (i.e., bar code scanners, thermostats, factory machines, scales, blood analyzers, security systems) that include the highest level of security protection in communicating over networks or the Internet.

For the first time, products are available that enable integrators servicing both government agencies and the private sector to deliver certified solutions for securely connecting serial devices to a network or securely managing data centers. Background on NIST and AES Encryption

AES is the highest level of encryption available to the public. It is currently used by government agencies (including the United States military) and is migrating to the private sector (including financial institutions and medical facilities) and other organizations that want to protect personal or sensitive data from computer hackers. In October 2000, NIST announced their certification of AES based on FIPS 197, and in May 2002 AES became a government mandate, making it compulsory that all U.S. government organizations have certified systems in place to protect data transmissions.
