Manhart makes the point: "Although Pocket PC's have been around for several years, companies like Microsoft, Intel and industry analyst Dataquest have long trumpeted the need for convenient, hot-plugged peripheral USB connectivity. The advent of SolarExpress SEPDA II gives users enhanced Pocket PC mobility, functionality and speed, the likes of which have not been available. -- Until now!"
The SEPDA II bundle, selling for $89.95 FOB Irvine, CA, includes the CF USB Host Card, a Mini-A to standard-A (female) 18 inch Host cable, a CD with CF USB HOST CARD driver and supported USB class drivers. A 'Y' cable accessory is available. New generation mobile professionals may now connect multiple USB devices such as mini flash hard drives for video streaming, full- size keyboards, and printers to their Pocket PC's. The SEPDA II bundle also includes a USB peripheral monitoring program for on-screen viewing of connected USB devices.
This Single Port CF USB Host Card features slim design (L=2.186 x W=1.68 x H=0.305, in inches); adds an independent USB Host port to the Pocket PC; supports Standard-A USB Host connectors and offers dongle-less Type II CompactFlash Card design. The Pocket PC supplies port power (5v@100mA, minimum -- 5v@200mA, maximum) to the SEPDA II Card.
Specifications include compliance with USB 1.1 designations and Mini-A USB Host port connector on CF Card. The system requires a Pocket PC with Type II CompactFlash slot, ActiveSync 3.7 or higher, and Windows Mobile 2003 or 2003 SE. Windows Mobile 2005 support will be available in January, 2007.
Manhart further states, "Based upon understanding the emerging and changing market needs, we have every reason to be excited about the impact SolarExpress PDA II will bring to the world of mobile computing. SEPDA II offers tremendous utility at a reasonable cost."
