BOISE, Idaho, Aug. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Time Warner Telecom , a leading provider of managed voice and data networking solutions for businesses in Boise and 43 other U.S. metropolitan areas, today announced the successful installation of an innovative integrated voice, data and Internet solution for the City of Boise government offices.
City officials expressed a need to increase network bandwidth to better meet the needs of their constituents. During the very competitive bid process, Time Warner Telecom presented a unique and innovative solution that would replace the City's legacy Frame Relay network and Centrex voice access lines with VersiPak, VRS, Native LAN and Internet services. And all with efficiencies and overall cost savings that met the City's operational and financial goals.
The City of Boise's WAN data applications traverse Time Warner Telecom's VersiPak VRS service, with dynamic bandwidth allocation averaging 1.3 Mbps throughput at each site, versus an average of 600 Kbps that the City was previously experiencing. In addition, the City is aggregating this data bandwidth over Time Warner Telecom's 100 Mbps metro Ethernet Native LAN service to access City Hall. The VersiPak converged voice capabilities are also replacing Centrex voice access lines used at each site by directly serving the customer's existing premise equipment. Additionally, the City uses Time Warner Telecom's 10 Mbps Ethernet Internet service to better access the Internet.
"The bottom-line for the City of Boise is that our services delivered a creative, competitive solution to cost effectively meet their needs; enabled them to upgrade their WAN with no new hardware investment; improved the efficiencies of their network, translating into faster service for their users; and delivered significant cost savings over the length of the contract," said Tab Roper, Boise sales manager for Time Warner Telecom. "Time Warner Telecom delivers innovative solutions and quality services to meet their telecom needs."
Time Warner Telecom is able to provide complete network solutions, with nearly 100 route miles of local fiber network in the Boise and the Treasure Valley area, to meet the extremely large capacity requirements and high reliability demands of high-tech customers. Because its extensive local fiber networks are connected with regional fiber, Time Warner Telecom is able to offer Boise customers unsurpassed network services across town, regionally to cities like Seattle and Portland, Ore., or across the country.
Time Warner Telecom VersiPak services are geared for businesses and organizations that require less than 4.5 Mbps speeds at their primary sites, or for very large enterprises to reach satellite locations. Time Warner Telecom Native LAN services are for larger enterprises that need to send data at speeds up to 1 Gbps.
