V Communications AutoSave 2 Automatic Backup Software -- Now Shipping

Posted on: Wednesday, 11 August 2004, 06:00 CDT

V Communications, a leading developer and publisher of advanced PC utilities, today announced that AutoSave 2, a feature-packed new version of its file backup software, is now shipping. Designed for users who do not currently backup, or backup only occasionally, AutoSave 2 provides a safe and continuous backup without any effort on their part.

AutoSave 2 is completely automatic. Installation is quick and it comes pre-configured for immediate use right out of the box. The pre-configured and default setting is designed to give users immediate protection for any files that they may modify while their computer is running. For more advanced users who are selective about the files being protected can easily change the configuration with AutoSave's Setup Wizard. Complete reporting capabilities are built right in to the product and the Restore Wizard easily guides users through restoration of files should data corruption, accidental file deletion, or hardware failures occur.

AutoSave 2 is a solution to those security holes that anti-virus software and firewalls frequently fail to update quick enough. This product provides quick restoration to files (like family photographs, mp3 collections, resumes, tax documents, etc.) that are expensive and time consuming to set up. "Since AutoSave is designed to save the files that you actually work with, it complements any existing backup strategy," said Frank van Gilluwe, President of V Communications, Inc. "With our hassle-free solution, users can quickly recover from file loss or damage and minimize the loss of their valuable work and time."

Some of the new AutoSave 2 features include:

-- New "Spanning" Mode -- Allows large backup archives to be split among multiple volumes such as Zip/Jaz drives, USB memory cards, and even CD-R(W) and DVD+/-R(W) drives.

-- Improved User Interface -- with new XP style icons and an improved Setup Wizard with more custom options.

-- New Backup Organizer -- Allows Users to select individual folders/files to back up or specify files to back up according to the application.

AutoSave 2 is compatible with Windows 98/Me/NT4/2000/XP/2003 and is expected to be street priced at $49.99. For current AutoSave users, an upgrade will be available for $24.99. More information is available about the product at http://www.v-com.com.
