Siebel High Tech and Industrial Manufacturing 7.7 Delivers Increased Productivity and Reduced TCO to Manufacturers

Posted on: Wednesday, 11 August 2004, 06:00 CDT

New Functionality Extends Siebel Systems' Leadership in Manufacturing

Siebel Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:SEBL), a leading provider of business applications software, today announced that Siebel High Tech and Industrial Manufacturing 7.7 enables high technology, aerospace and defense, and manufacturing companies to manage, synchronize, and coordinate sales, marketing, and customer service across multiple channels. The new enhancements in this Siebel CRM solution are designed to increase productivity, enhance customer satisfaction, and maximize revenue and profit. Siebel High Tech and Industrial Manufacturing 7.7 is the latest version of Siebel's industry-leading CRM suite designed specifically for the high technology and complex manufacturing industries.

Working closely with the world's leading high technology, industrial manufacturing, and aerospace and defense companies, Siebel Systems has extended its business architecture to design and deliver prebuilt functionality that addresses the industry's most critical business challenges. Marketing, sales, and customer service are fully integrated, allowing manufacturers to increase sales and design wins, enhance and streamline collaboration throughout the demand chain, maintain pricing flexibility to maximize margins, optimize multichannel service delivery, increase after-market parts and services revenue, and maximize customer loyalty.

Siebel High Tech and Industrial Manufacturing 7.7 offers significant new and enhanced functionality, including:

-- Design Opportunity Management -- Design Opportunity Management enables component manufacturers to increase design win rates; generate higher-value individual transactions through recognition of additional component opportunities; improve demand forecasting through increased visibility into multilevel, multi-component projects; enhance distributor loyalty by simplifying and improving the effectiveness of the opportunity management process; and reduce costs through better resource allocation and closer collaboration between the manufacturer's sales and marketing employees and external parties.

-- Special Pricing Authorization and Claims Management -- Special Pricing Authorization and Claims Management allows manufacturers who sell extensively through indirect distribution to increase revenues by winning more customer design programs in competitive sales situations, reduce costs by streamlining quoting request and routing processes, improve margins by allowing suppliers to identify pricing problems and drive global pricing consistencies, and improve distributor loyalty by simplifying and improving the pricing process.

-- Market Development Fund Management -- Market Development Fund Management enables companies with extensive partner networks to set up Market Development Fund (MDF) incentive programs, identify participating partners and automatically create partner program accounts, manage the fund request pre-approval process, and manage claims against these pre-approved fund requests. The MDF Fund Management functionality greatly reduces the cost of managing MDF programs, improves the efficiency of submitting fund approval requests and claims for payments, and enhances partner loyalty through better managed incentive programs.

Proven Customer Success

"We believe that Siebel High Tech 7.7, which delivers specific out-of-the-box functionality for semiconductor component suppliers, will reduce a semiconductor component supplier's need for customization, lower maintenance costs and shorten deployment time," said Bill Levesque, CIS Program Director, Altera Corporation. "Siebel High Tech 7.7 can help companies like Altera improve the sales effectiveness of their field sales and application engineers, improve collaboration with distributors, streamline lead-to-quote-to-order processes and improve their ability to get designed into OEM customers' products."

Leading high tech, industrial manufacturing, and aerospace and defense companies worldwide have standardized on Siebel CRM solutions, including 3M, Agilent, Airbus, Autodesk, BMC Software, The Boeing Company, Bridgestone Firestone, Cadence, EMI Industries, First Service Networks, General Dynamics, HBM, Honeywell, HP, IBM, ITT Industries, Lockheed Martin, Mentor Graphics, Michelin, Nokia, Novell, Northrop Grumman, Pitney Bowes, Siemens, Whirlpool, Xerox, and York.

Enhancements Improve Usability and Lower TCO

In developing Siebel 7.7 and Siebel High Tech and Industrial Manufacturing 7.7, the Siebel development teams focused on improving user interaction with applications by simplifying common actions, streamlining navigation, enhancing the appearance and readability of data, and providing embedded role-based guidance. Siebel High Tech and Industrial Manufacturing 7.7 has been available and shipping since the Siebel 7.7 platform was announced in April 2004.

Total cost of ownership was also a major focus in developing the underlying Siebel 7.7 platform. The design and engineering teams focused on driving cost out of installation, configuration, integration, and operation and making the software faster, easier, and less costly to implement and maintain. Siebel Systems estimates that the cumulative result is a 39 percent reduction in overall TCO as compared to previous Siebel Systems releases. These and other TCO enhancements make Siebel High Tech and Industrial Manufacturing 7.7 the most cost-effective CRM solution available today for manufacturers.

"Our goal is to provide purpose-built solutions that help manufacturers become more customer-centric organizations," said Steve Fioretti, Senior Director, Siebel High Tech and Manufacturing. "Siebel High Tech and Industrial Manufacturing 7.7 enhances the world's leading CRM platform by helping companies improve sales win rates, identify and seize new revenue and profit opportunities, streamline customer-facing operations, and continue to reduce our customers' total cost of ownership."
