Bergson to Present Awards to 15 Outstanding City Employees

Jan. 4–Duluth Mayor Herb Bergson will present Clarence Maddy Awards to 15 outstanding city employees as part of the annual State of the City address Monday.

The event begins at 6 p.m. with the first meeting of the 2007 Duluth City Council at 6 p.m., followed by Bergson’s speech at 6:30 p.m. The reception for the city’s outstanding employees follows the speech. The award is named for the late Clarence Maddy, who served six Duluth mayors as an administrative assistant.

The event will be held in the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center’s Lake Superior Ballroom. It is free and open to the public, and parking at the DECC will be free.

The employees being honored, who were nominated by peers, department directors and members of the public, are:

n Mona Talbot, Parks and Recreation

n Marlene van Puymbrouck, Human Resources

n Gail Walkowiak, Parks and Recreation

n Tammie Walsh, Human Resources

n Janet Worthing, Library

n Helen Wright, Parks and Recreation
