'Silicon Sponsorship' to showcase latest programmable Intellectual Property (IP) solutions for embedded, serial connectivity and automotive applications developed by Xilinx India Technology Services Pvt. Ltd, Hyderabad. When: January 6-10, 2007 Where: NIMHANS Convention Centre, Bangalore, India Xilinx CEO Keynote Inaugural Session January 7, 6:30pm - 7:20pm "Creating a Culture of Innovation" Mr. Wim Roelandts, President, CEO and Chairman of the Board, Xilinx, Inc. Abstract:
Innovation is the key to success of companies in the semiconductor and IT industries. To successfully enable innovation, a company must create a culture that encourages innovation, and at the same time, deals with the inherent risks and issues associated with innovation. This talk will present how Xilinx creates such a culture.
Xilinx has a history of successful product innovation such as the award- winning Virtex(TM) and Spartan(TM) series of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). Xilinx is also the pioneer of innovative business models such as the 'fabless' semiconductor model. Over the last few years, significant technical advances have made FPGAs ideal for many SoC (System On Chip) applications and a mainstream solution of choice for digital system designers.
Other Xilinx Participation Tutorial, Industry-2A January 7, 9:30am - 1:00pm "Embedded Systems Design with Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGA Family" Dr. Parimal Patel, Trainer, Global Training Solutions, Xilinx, Inc. Industry Forum, Session E1 January 8, 11:20am - 12:05pm
"Work Environment at Xilinx Hyderabad & System-Level Architectures that Xilinx Hyderabad is working on in the Areas of Embedded, Networking and Automotive Domains"
Mr. Surya Jonnavithula, Engineering Director, Xilinx Hyderabad Invited Technical Talk January 9, 11:10am - 11:40am
Mr. Reno Sanchez, Director, Microprocessor IP Center of Excellence, Xilinx Inc.
This paper will explore various methods to increase processor performance under today's challenging environment. Techniques such as multiprocessing and specialized co-processors will be discussed. This paper will also introduce ideas of how to best utilize system level design techniques in FPGA embedded processors that result in optimal design implementations. Design examples will be given to provide the reader with a clear understanding of how these system-level design techniques can enable developers to meet customer demands and develop sustainable competitive advantages.
Xilinx Booth #1
Customers can see demonstrations of the full lifecycle IP products, developed at Xilinx India Technology Services Pvt Ltd at Hyderabad, that show how low-cost, high-end embedded IPs can be used to design applications in areas of embedded processing and networking systems. Key highlights include:
-- Xilinx Embedded Technology Simplifies System Design: Xilinx Intellectual Property (IP) Cores facilitate system designers to create embedded processor systems with ease and meet time-to-market requirements. Xilinx IP core are entirely portable and can be incorporated into various vendor technology or design methodology. This demonstration will show a simple application of embedded processor IP cores. The demonstration quiz is based on a MicroBlaze processor- based system running on a Virtex-5 FPGA device using various IP cores like memory controller, keyboard interface, Video, Audio etc. -- Design of PCI-Express End Point Application using Virtex-5 FPGA: Demonstration of the interoperability of the PCIe Hard Block, configured as Memory Endpoint, on Virtex-5 LXT FPGA device, using ML523 Xilinx reference board in a PCI Express PC Motherboard running Windows XP Professional. The application has memory inside the FPGA connected to the backend of the core. The design has a Windows device driver and memory test application software. -- Firewall IP for PPC405 processor on Xilinx Platform FPGA: This is Network Firewall on an FPGA as an embedded system which is reconfigurable without hardware change. The firewall IP is interfaced to the PowerPC core in Xilinx platform FPGA, using ternary CAMs and tree bit map algorithm. The platform runs Linux. Present implementation supports 64 rules and does the firewalling at 100 Mbps line rate. The current FPGA resources can support up to 320 rules. Packet classification speed alone is 1.1 Gbps. -- Xilinx University Program: University faculty and students will learn how they can benefit through the Xilinx University Program in terms of setting up Xilinx labs at academic institutions. In addition, the booth will showcase some of the designs and boards that are part of the Xilinx lab curriculum. About The International Conference on VLSI Design
The International Conference on VLSI Design was started in 1985, as a small workshop at IIT Madras, under the visionary guidance of Dr. Vishwani Agrawal of Auburn University, and Prof. H.N. Mahabala of IIT Madras. From this small start, it has grown into a leading international conference on VLSI design, which draws around 700 attendees, every year, from India and abroad. The proceedings are printed by the IEEE Computer Society Press, USA. The conference is dedicated to all aspects of integrated circuit design, technology, and related computer-aided design (CAD).
