Silicon Image Unveils Latest High-Definition Technologies at Consumer Electronics Show

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Silicon Image, Inc. , a leader in semiconductors for the secure storage, distribution and presentation of high-definition content, today announced a series of new products and services at the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), taking the high-definition consumer experience to new levels.
The announcements include: -- On Jan. 4, 2007, Silicon Image acquired sci-worx GmbH ("sci-worx"), a leading intellectual property (IP) and design service provider specializing in multimedia, communications, and networking applications. The acquisition of sci-worx is expected to enhance and accelerate the expansion of Silicon Image's system-on-a-chip (SoC) design capabilities for the storage, distribution and presentation of high-definition content in the consumer environment. At CES 2007, Silicon Image will be demonstrating the products and services developed by sci-worx. -- Introduction of a new family of PinnaClear DTV input processors, the first with High-Definition Multimedia Interface(TM) (HDMI) version 1.3 inputs for digital TVs. The SiI9153 is a highly integrated input processor combining HDMI and legacy analog inputs with a single digital video output optimized for midrange HDTVs. The SiI9155 integrates more HDMI and analog inputs with even higher performance for high-end HDTVs. This family enables manufacturers to cost effectively offer cutting edge HDMI 1.3 support throughout their product line. -- New additions to the Silicon Image VastLane(TM) product family, the world's broadest line of HDMIintegrated circuits. Silicon Image announced two new HDMI 1.3-compliant receiver chips designed for HDTVs and audio/video (A/V) receivers to deliver the ultimate home theater experience. The VastLane SiI9135, designed for use in audio/video receivers, is the first HDMI 1.3 receiver chip to support High Bit Rate (HBR) audio, enabling A/V receivers to decode and play back compressed lossless audio formats such as Dolby(R) True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio. The VastLane SiI9125, designed for use in HDTVs, is an advanced dual-input receiver that fits directly into HDTVs, offering manufacturers a low cost, easily implemented upgrade to add HDMI 1.3 capabilities to their full range of HDTVs. -- A new VastLane product family: Silicon Image announced its first- generation HDMI 1.3 switch product family, with integrated HDMI Consumer Electronics Control(CEC) functionality. The SiI9181 and SiI9185 are Transition Minimized Differential Signaling (TMDS) HDMI switches that enable multiple HDMI source devices to connect to HDTVs with frequency of operation up to 225 megahertz (MHz), allowing consumers to enjoy Deep Color(TM) content. -- A new member of the second generation SteelVine(TM) storage processor family, the SiI5733. The SiI5733 gives HDTV, digital video recorder (DVR), set-top box and PC motherboard manufacturers a cost-effective storage solution that is simple, scalable, reliable and secure. The SiI5733 is the first storage processor on the market to offer content security through automatic drive locking, making drive security simple and requiring no effort by the user. -- Simplay Labs(TM) LLC's opening of its first European HD test center in London, providing manufacturers a state-of-the-art compatibility testing facility to ensure they are delivering industry-compatible high-definition products to consumers. Simplay Labs is also previewing new testing tools and services to help manufacturers achieve compatibility and deliver the highest-quality HDTV experience to consumers.
