Solid State Networks Demonstrates Peer-Assisted Content Delivery Solution for Consumer Devices at CES
Posted on: Monday, 8 January 2007, 09:00 CST
Solid State Networks, developer of high- performance, low cost distributed content delivery solutions, is demonstrating its advanced peer-assisted technology at the 2007 International CES as part of Zoran Corporation's 'Media at the Speed of Life' exhibit.
At the conference, Solid State is partnering with Zoran, a leading provider of digital solutions in the growing digital entertainment and digital imaging markets, to enable peer-assisted content delivery on Zoran's growing line of personal media players.
CES provides Solid State Networks an opportunity to showcase its Solid Core Library(TM), which provides a multi-protocol content delivery platform to embedded systems. The Solid Core Library(TM) improves the speed and integrity of content downloads, ensures reliable quality of service (QOS) and significantly reduces delivery costs.
The Solid Core Library(TM) is the high performance engine that powers the Solid State Distributed Delivery Network(TM) (DDN(TM)), a hybrid solution that combines the network efficiency of P2P with the reliability and QOS of a traditional content delivery network (CDN). The Solid Core SDK(TM), available today, gives manufacturers the ability to easily integrate multi-protocol CDN technology into a wide range of embedded devices, from handheld media players to networked consumer electronics products throughout the home.
"We continually strive to incorporate innovative technologies that add functionality and performance to our products for the digital home and the connected consumer," said Brian Hofstetter, Zoran's Director of Connected Entertainment. "Solid State Networks helps meet these needs with its fast, reliable hybrid content delivery solutions."
Solid State's demonstration at CES illustrates that users are no longer limited to personal computers to download music, movies and other streaming audio and video content. Additionally, in combination with Solid State's peer-assisted technology, content distributors are freed from the constraints of traditional, slower content delivery technologies and device manufacturers can greatly enhance consumer entertainment experiences through faster and easier access to the content they want on their portable devices.
"A tenet of Zoran's vision for enabling the global CE device content network is that connected devices must be able to access content directly without requiring the assistance of another device such as a PC. We are delighted to showcase our technology in support of that vision with Zoran at CES," commented Rick Buonincontri, founder, president and CEO of Solid State Networks. "Our objective is to significantly accelerate a manufacturer's time to market with new consumer devices that feature the most advanced content delivery capabilities, whether for traditional downloads or on-demand streaming media."
