NTS-200 becomes only network time server approved for use in Emerson Process Management's DeltaV(TM) digital automation system
Symmetricom (NASDAQ:SYMM), a leading worldwide supplier of atomic clocks and network synchronization and timing solutions, today announced that it has reached agreement with Emerson Process Management, a business unit of Emerson (NYSE:EMR) a leading automation system provider. As a result of this agreement, Symmetricom's NTS-200(TM) Network Time Server is the only network time server formally approved for use in Emerson's DeltaV(TM) digital automation system.
Symmetricom has become part of Emerson Process Management's Alliance Program. The Alliance Program fosters an open environment for suppliers to integrate their products and services with Emerson process management solutions. The result is better process management for Emerson's customers due to reduced cost, risk, and implementation time; and a bigger audience with more resources for products from companies such as Symmetricom.
"Symmetricom's time servers have been in use with our DeltaV digital automation system for several years now, meeting all our criteria including affordability, availability, reliability, support for a large number of nodes and NTP compatibility and GPS synchronization," commented Chris Felts, alliance program manager at Emerson Process Management. "Plus, they are extremely easy to install, configure and use. Most of our customers are process control engineers and plant operations personnel, not networking experts, so ease of use was the major differentiator for us. Further, Symmetricom has been a valuable partner, as their network time server has become an integral part of the DeltaV system. We look forward to our continued alliance."
"We understand that if one event in the DeltaV system is triggered out of sequence with the others, the entire process may fail," commented Paul Skoog, product marketing manager at Symmetricom. "Our network time servers offer the needed requirements to keep the DeltaV system's time synchronized and accurate. We have been able to provide the affordability and ease of use necessary to meet the standard of excellence Emerson requires."
The first fully digital plant automation system, Emerson's DeltaV delivers dramatic operational improvements that significantly impact an organization's bottom line. Built with today's technologies, the DeltaV digital automation system delivers more precise control, predictive maintenance and makes planning, engineering, installing, commissioning, training, operating and maintaining a company's plant process easy, thereby accelerating the company's success in improving its plant performance. Since 1996, the DeltaV system has been commissioned in automation applications around the globe.
Symmetricom's high-performance NTS-200 Network Time Server is used to synchronize clocks on servers and workstations across entire enterprise networks. Accurately synchronized clocks are critical for network log file accuracy, billing systems, electronic transactions, database integrity, software development, and many more essential applications. The NTS-200 provides reliable and secure network synchronization technology by combining a high-speed/ high-capacity network interface, versatile GPS timing receiver technology, web-enabled user interface, and a wide range of network protocol support for seamless integration into an existing network.
