Ixia Provides Network Performance Testing for JUICE '04 and JRAE Annual National Interoperability Events for the U.S. Department of Defense

Posted on: Monday, 16 August 2004, 06:00 CDT

JUICE and JRAE Demonstrate VoIP Interoperability, Gigabit Ethernet End-to-End QoS Policies, IPv6 Solutions, and Assess Network Performance Using Ixia

Ixia (Nasdaq:XXIA), a leading, global provider of IP network testing solutions, was selected by JUICE '04 (Joint User Interoperability Communications Exercise) and JRAE '04 (Joint Rapid Architecture Exercise) for IPv6 network layer performance and application testing. JUICE 04 is an annual exercise that provides a network for users to train on new systems and refine existing policies and procedures. In addition, the exercise will enhance and develop methodologies for implementing converged multimedia communications within a joint environment. JRAE '04 is a SPAWAR initiative designed to demonstrate and promote the convergence of voice, video and data at Gigabit Ethernet speeds.

"Exercises such as the JUICE '04 and JRAE '04 allow for the identification of early interoperability issues in the early deployment and development of a converged network system," said Captain Dan Millane of the GIG Edge Branch of the Joint Interoperability Test Command at Ft. Huachuca, AZ.

This national exercise includes Indian Head, MD; Ft. Huachuca, AZ; as well as the University of New Hampshire, where Ixia has a long-term testing partner relationship.

"Ixia is proud to be a continuing participant in these exercises under Capt. Millane's direction at the JTIC, which is using Ixia's extensive expertise and experience in network performance analysis, traffic generation, as well as Ixia's application and conformance test solutions, which include support for IPv6," said Alan Amrod, vice president of marketing for Ixia. "Ixia has the right solution and a dedicated team working diligently to support this groundbreaking effort throughout the country."

Ixia's IxChariot(R) generates and measures mixed IPv4/IPv6 stateful transport traffic across the entire network, with the focus of these exercises being to stage and train on a pre-staged network that will not directly impact the armed forces' live network. IxChariot and Ixia's performance analysis solution allow the DoD to plan network capacity, identify possible bottlenecks of network congestion, and evaluate the performance of emerging technologies prior to deploying them.
