Optimus Solutions, a leading provider of Information Technology (IT) solutions, will present an “Olympic Day in Technology” on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at their Norcross headquarters. The event, held in conjunction with IBM, will feature presentations by Haverty Furniture Companies, Inc. (Havertys), CIO, Ed Clary, and IBM’s VP of Worldwide Sales, Robert McCormick, as well as Optimus business partner, Vision Solutions. Speakers will highlight the benefits of server consolidation, storage area networks (SANs), and backup and recovery strategies.

“We are excited to sponsor these informative presentations from world class speakers,” said Mark Metz, CEO of Optimus Solutions. “Optimus’ expanding leadership in the server consolidation space benefits clients by dramatically improving utilization rates, systems management and computing performance.”

Robert A. McCormick, Vice President, Worldwide Sales, eServer iSeries Systems and Technology Group at IBM will discuss “IBM iSeries(TM) Strategy & IT Optimization.” The new advanced IBM Power 5 microprocessor technology of the IBM eServer iSeries is designed to streamline infrastructures and enhance productivity through server consolidation. Participants will learn how to increase server utilization rates by using the iSeries dynamic workload management features, which enable businesses to automatically adjust workloads and performance.

Ed Clary, CIO of Haverty Furniture Companies, Inc. (Havertys), will present a case study on server consolidation. Havertys recently consolidated over 50 servers down to three and has already seen the benefits of lower software licensing costs, simplified systems administration and increased performance.

Vision Solutions, an Optimus business partner, will introduce Orion(TM), a new multi-platform high availability solution for IBM iSeries, Windows, Linux Redhat and SuSE. Orion enhances productivity by managing disaster recovery, high and continuous availability, and data integration needs from a single consolidated graphical user interface.

Optimus consultants will give presentations on Server Consolidations, the discipline of simplifying and optimizing end-to-end IT infrastructures. Optimus will also identify why reliable data storage and networking solutions are critical to business function. Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM), Backup & Recovery, SANs and Cisco infrastructures will also be covered.

Olympic Day in Technology begins at 11:15 a.m., Wednesday, August 18, 2004, at the Optimus Headquarters Building, 22 Technology Parkway South, Norcross. Lunch will be served, followed by the presentations. The day will be rounded out with a cocktail reception from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. To register, call 1-888-957-4040 or sign up at www.optimussolutions.com/TechnologyDay.
