New Year, New Hires: Comcast Cable Eastern Division Rings in 2007 With Aggressive Hiring Announcements

OAKS, Pa., Jan. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast Cable's Eastern Division today announced that it will add an additional 2,800 new hires to its growing employee base over the coming year, with the majority of the new hires in frontline, customer interacting roles. The announcement comes just four months after the Division announced and filled an additional 1,600 positions in late 2006, and will bring the number of people employed by the Eastern Division to more than 17,000 across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Washington, DC and Virginia.

In the past year, the Division has increased its employee base by more than 21%, with new hires spanning all of the states and regions it serves. It also increased its presence in Washington, DC with a new CN8, The Comcast Network studio at 101 Constitution Avenue, NW that began live studio coverage last night.

Comcast's Eastern Division began marketing its Triple Play of Digital Cable with ON DEMAND, Comcast High Speed Internet and Comcast Digital Voice last spring and has already added close to 400,000 phone customers. More than one in three new customers are taking the Triple Play bundle, and the majority of customers now have Digital Cable and Comcast High Speed Internet.

Comcast credits the introduction of Comcast Digital Voice and the Triple Play bundle as the significant driver of the employment expansion. New customers who subscribe to the Triple Play bundle receive Digital Cable with ON DEMAND, Comcast Digital Voice and Comcast High Speed Internet for $33 each per month for 12 months. Existing video customers can also sign up for Comcast High Speed Internet or Comcast Digital Voice for $33 per month for 12 months.
