LANSING, Mich., Jan. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) announces http://www.michiganhousinglocator.com/. This tool is a Web site devoted exclusively to assisting residents in finding affordable housing and giving property owners a marketing tool for their entire rental portfolio. The Web site is free to both renters and landlords and is very simple to navigate and register property information.
Landlords begin by following a simple 10 to 15 minute set-up process, which involves entering all property details and amenities. The site includes several great features including the display of unlimited floor plans and photos and the ability to attach an application and lease. Interactive maps are generated by Google mapping based on address information entered by property owners. The Web site is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be updated at any time.
"This tool is a breakthrough in connecting Michigan residents looking for rental properties with landlords, this is the first time all listings will be in one easy to access location," said MSHDA Executive Director Michael DeVos. "Allowing renters and landlords access to the site 24 hours a day will hopefully ensure a good match between location, income and availability of properties."
Property owners and managers also have the ability to receive renter- inquiries directly to their email accounts, easily identify both subsidized and market rate units, and track statistics on visitors viewing their property listings.
The Michigan Housing Locator gives renters a full picture of the properties available in their price range, and will become the main source for Section 8 Voucher holders to find out which landlords will accept their Vouchers.
"In today's highly competitive housing market, owners are looking for every resource to market their properties, and residents need a resource to find properties quickly, and the MichiganHousingLocator.com is that resource," said MSHDA's Director of Asset Management, Donna McMillan. "The hard work and collaboration between MSHDA and our partners has made this site a powerful tool for the housing industry."
MSHDA partnered with many industry leaders including the Michigan Housing Council, the Property Managers Association of Michigan and Michigan Disability Rights Coalition to ensure the success of the MichiganHousingLocator.com site. This tool is the best source around for renters and landlords to connect easily and quickly based on several different components including, income, location and amenities.
MSHDA is a quasi-state agency that provides financial and technical assistance through public and private partnerships to create and preserve safe and decent affordable housing, engage in community economic development activities, and address homeless issues. MSHDA's loans and operating expenses are financed through the sale of tax-exempt and taxable bonds and notes to private investors, not from state tax revenues.
