SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MiLAN Technology Inc., (http://www.milan.com/), a wholly owned subsidiary of Communications Systems Inc. , today announced it's new family of high-speed, Gigabit Interface Converters (GBIC) and Small Form-factor, Pluggable (SFP) modules, an industry-standard modular transceiver that offers increased flexibility for Gigabit Ethernet connections, enhancing new and existing network infrastructures by providing gigabit fiber connectivity to your MiLAN and other Ethernet network switches supporting GBIC and/or SFP upgradeability. MiLAN focuses on providing innovative and cost effective LAN, Wireless-LAN, Media Conversion and Print Server networking products that leverage companies existing networks while offering the latest technology for future growth and enhancement.
MIL-SFP-SX and MIL-SFP-LX10 the Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) Gigabit interface Converter (GBIC) module are among MiLAN's latest products to optimize your network. Building your network with multi-mode or single-mode gigabit connections is made simple, due to the automatic detection capabilities of the switch; installation of the SFP GBIC only requires that you plug the module into the module slot.
The MIL-GBIC-SX and MIL-GBIC-LX10, Gigabit Interface Converters can be used in those MiLAN switches and modules which support GBIC modules. GBIC's can be mixed and matched on a given switch to maximize flexibility. MiLAN's MIL-SM808G, an 8 port 100BaseFX switch and MIL-SM2401M, 24 port 10/100 managed switch, currently support GBIC modules with more switches arriving soon.
