Cavium Networks Acquires Brecis Communications' Secure Communication Processor Product Line

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Cavium Networks, the leader in security processing with the industry's broadest product line, today announced the acquisition of Brecis Communications' MIPS(TM) based Secure Communication Processor product portfolio. These products include the award-winning and successful MSP2000, MSP2010 and MSP2100 processors that have been integrated into customer premise equipment such as broadband routers, security appliances and wireless access points. The product line acquisition includes all intellectual property, inventory, technology and exclusive rights to the Secure Communication Processor products. Cavium Networks has also retained key Brecis personnel to ensure continued product supply and excellent customer support. The financial terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

The Brecis Secure Communication Processors MSP2000, MSP2010 and MSP2100 are being made available under Cavium Networks NITROX Soho brand as the CN200, CN201 and CN210 respectively. The product family integrates a MIPS32(TM) 4Km Processor with 16KB I-Cache and 16KB D-Cache, 16KB scratchpad and a 32 bit SDRAM main memory interface for maximum performance. The family also incorporates a powerful hardware VPN engine that supports all standard encryption and hashing algorithms such as DES, 3DES, 256 bit AES and HMAC MD5/SHA1. A range of networking I/Os are on-chip including 3 10/100 Ethernet MACs, 32bit/33 MHz PCI, UARTs, GPIOs, timers and serial buses for maximum system integration and performance at the lowest system cost. The products have been deployed in currently shipping high-volume equipment from leading OEMs and ODMs in the US and Asia. A complete Software Development Kit is available with evaluation boards, software and drivers, Linux and Vxworks OS support and a broad range of third-party software applications from Ashley Laurent, Intoto and others.

Pricing and Availability

All 3 members of the NITROX Soho product family CN200(MSP2000), CN201(MSP2010) and CN210(MSP2100); are currently shipping in volume. The products are available for price points under $15 for 100K quantities depending upon the product and speed grades.
