Communications firm AT&T and Citigroup company Citi have agreed on a long-term extension of an agreement under which AT&T’s licensing unit, AT&T Knowledge Ventures, licenses the AT&T brand to Citi for general purpose consumer credit cards.

Under the new agreement, the availability of the AT&T Universal Platinum Card and AT&T Universal Rewards Card will be extended, and will continue to offer cardholders calling benefits, loyalty programs and mobile phone insurance. AT&T Universal Rewards Card holders will also have access to rewards through the ThankYou Network, the free rewards program founded by Citigroup.

“Since 1998, Citi and AT&T have provided great benefits for our loyal AT&T Universal Cards customers,” said Raja Rajamannar, executive vice president of Citi Cards. “We’re pleased to be able to continue this successful program, and we see great long-term opportunities for our customers through our continued relationship.”

“We’re excited about extending the relationship with Citi for the AT&T Universal Card,” commented Abha Divine, AT&T Knowledge Ventures-president and CEO. “Our customers continue to embrace the benefits of the AT&T Universal Card. We’re looking forward to the Universal Card team delivering further savings and rewards to consumers, including some fresh, new offers that will be introduced in the coming year.”
