Jan. 12–Kitting out the world’s broadcasters with the latest high-definition camera kit for big sporting events is lining the coffers of Vitec Group, the Kingston-based camera and lighting equipment supplier.

Vitec chief executive Gareth Rhys Williams told brokers today that the board was expecting results for the year to end-December to be “at the upper end of expectations”. Revenues for 2006 will come in at about £220 million, 13 percent higher, helped in the first half by successful contracts to capture on digital the Winter Olympics around Turin. Like-for-like revenue is up 10 percent.

Rhys Williams said Vitec, which has strong links with the BBC, was “well positioned to gain” from the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
