Sun Pondering Solaris for IBM, Intel Chips

Sun Microsystems said that it is considering porting Solaris to two new processors designed by chip rivals IBM and Intel. During the company's quarterly earnings call, Sun President and COO Jonathan Schwartz said, "We've begun looking at delivering Solaris on Power, as well as on ltanium." Sun CEO Scott McNealy cut Schwartz off by saying, "That's not a product announcement."
