A BAIL application by a man accused of murdering a mother of nine was withdrawn in the New Plymouth District Court yesterday.

The 51-year-old factory worker, who has interim name suppression, was charged with killing Denise Rosemarie Simeon (52) between January 13 and 14 at a Waitara house.

Police have said the woman died of a head injury.

Defence lawyer Andrew Laurenson told Judge Thomas Ingram there had been a number of developments since he filed the bail application.

Mr Laurenson withdrew the application and asked that his client be further remanded in custody for two weeks without plea.

Judge Ingram remanded the man to reappear on February 1.

The dead woman’s funeral will be held today at the Kauwhata Marae, at Awahuri, outside Feilding.
