Frost & Sullivan Names Time Warner Telecom’s Larissa Herda CEO of the Year
LITTLETON, Colo., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Frost & Sullivan today announced that Larissa Herda, chairman, president and CEO of Time Warner Telecom Inc., will receive its 2007 North American Business Communications Services CEO of the Year Award. The award will be presented at the company’s Excellence in Information and Communication Technologies Awards banquet to be held in Tempe, Ariz. on Jan. 24, 2007.
Time Warner Telecom Inc., , is a leading provider of managed voice and data networking solutions for businesses.
“Ms. Herda was a natural selection for this year’s award based on her consistent leadership, vision for the telecom industry, and marketplace performance of Time Warner Telecom,” said Maria Zeppetella, senior analyst – Telecommunications Services Information & Communication Technology Services at Frost & Sullivan.
“Time Warner Telecom has been one of the most consistent and successful performers in a very competitive telecom services provider industry,” Zeppetella said. “The company has been able to introduce innovative products, increase revenue and margins, and improve market capitalization while extending its market reach locally and nationally. In 2006, Time Warner Telecom acquired a facilities-based CLEC and is now operating in 75 U.S. metropolitan areas in 30 states and the District of Columbia. Time Warner Telecom is well-positioned against the large incumbents to offer businesses next-generation, broadband services in the metro area as well as across the country. In fact, no other industry competitor has the breadth and depth of service offerings with the customer care and strength of fiber network and IP backbone infrastructure, other than the large incumbents, than does Time Warner Telecom.”
Since becoming chief executive of Time Warner Telecom in 1998, Ms. Herda has raised more than $5 billion in the public and debt markets, including a $290 million IPO. She has significantly extended Time Warner Telecom’s reach and broadened its assets and most recently acquired Xspedius Communications. With this acquisition, Time Warner Telecom provides communications services in tens of thousands of commercial buildings to reach over 60 percent of U.S. businesses. Under Ms. Herda’s leadership, Time Warner Telecom has introduced a dynamic portfolio of advanced data, network security, metro Ethernet, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) products and local and long-distance switched telephone services for organizations looking for robust and reliable network solutions.
Ms. Herda is also a member of the community advisory board of SungateKids, a local children’s advocacy center helping children and families who are victims of abuse. She is also a member of the advisory board of the Leeds School of Business at her alma mater, the University of Colorado, and is a member of the Economic Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.
Frost & Sullivan annually presents this prestigious award to the CEO/executive who has demonstrated excellence within his or her industry during the past year and made prudent decisions to increase in market share, improve earnings and grow the company. The Award recipient also has distinguished himself or herself from competitors by pursuing a unique restructuring, organizational management reengineering, or competitive roadmap that has resulted in propelling or sustaining the company’s market position.
