A Scottish bartender has gained instant Internet notoriety and an appearance on a U.S. talk show by simply falling through an open trap door.

The Times of London reported that after Mairi Duncan accidentally fell through the trap door at The Unicorn pub in the Midlothian area of Scotland, the 30-year-old watched a video of the event become one of YouTube’s top draws.

After the footage of her falling 14 feet into the pub’s basement drew a strong Internet following, Duncan appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to discuss her sudden online celebrity status.

I’m living in a bubble at the moment — I can’t believe what’s happening, Duncan said on the ABC series. They’ve given me my own dressing room and I get my hair and makeup done and so on. The whole trip is a bit of a dream.

The Times said that by making Duncan an instant celebrity, the Web site has added to its reputation for bestowing instant online celebrity status on unknowns.
