Integrated Solution Delivers High Quality Yet Cost Effective Internet Telephony Services for Mobile Users -- Even on Broadband WiFi Networks
TeleSym, a leading US-based provider of mobile Internet telephony (VoIP) for corporate and public sector customers, and Xybernaut Corporation (NASDAQ:XYBR) today announced the two companies have combined VoIP solutions with mobile/wearable computing technologies.
Under the partnership relationship, TeleSym has joined Team Xybernaut(TM) as a solution provider working with Xybernaut in a wide variety of industry sectors, such as telecommunications, transportation, utilities and government. Both companies have been working together for more than six months to develop and deploy the integrated Internet telephony and mobile/wearable computing solutions.
Initially being offered on the Xybernaut Mobile Assistant(R) V (MA(R) V) and Atigo(R) wearable computers, these integrated mobile/wearable solutions offer a complete turnkey system running TeleSym SymPhone(TM) software including the following features:
-- Availability on any broadband IP network,
-- High quality voice performance, even under adverse network conditions such as "packet loss" common in mobile applications and wireless networks,
-- Full support for telephony standards (such as Session Initiation Protocol -- SIP),
-- Interoperability with legacy and IP PBX environments,
-- Unique application-level VoIP security based on RSA Security's PKI authentication technology
Once TeleSym software is loaded onto standard IP equipped computers including laptops, PDAs, tablets, wearable computers, or smart Web devices -- such as the Xybernaut Mobile Assistant(R) V (MA(R) V) and Atigo(R) product families -- a secure VoIP broadband network can be created instantly.
"This unique type of mobile VoIP service can perform as a standalone network for mobile devices when no fixed infrastructure is available, or it can interoperate with, and utilize standard fixed infrastructure such as 802.xx or hard-wired IP networks," stated Steven A. Newman, president and COO of Xybernaut. "As a result, TeleSym mobile/wearable devices are capable of delivering mission-critical voice communications to users wherever and whenever they have access to an IP network. SymPhone is also interoperable with the full range of PBXs and telephony equipment of our customers, making adoption and implementation throughout an organization even easier."
Joint TeleSym-Xybernaut solutions are available immediately and consist of software, client applications and a software development kit (SDK) -- for optimizing applications for a wide variety of enterprise environments -- network connectivity hardware/tools, communications management software, as well as the mobile/wearable computing units.
"Xybernaut wearable and ruggedized devices, using Microsoft industry-standard operating systems, are optimized for mobile productivity and integrate seamlessly with the complete SymPhone VoIP system software," stated Mike Houston, director of marketing for TeleSym. "Together, these technologies deliver powerful mobile VoIP capabilities that offer a unique platform for integrated voice services while also taking advantage of the mobile computer's ability to deliver and/or retrieve critical information when and where it is needed."
TeleSym first worked with Xybernaut during recent field deployments in the telecommunication industry. During these activities, TeleSym, running on mobile devices from Xybernaut and others, successfully delivered instantaneous mobile voice communications to and from a large number of mobile Internet telephony users.
