Dasan Networks Builds Fiber-Fast Broadband Access Solution Based on 100 Mbps Fx and FxS Chipsets From Ikanos Communications

Ikanos' Programmable Chipsets Let Dasan Open Up New Markets Worldwide, Enable Wide Range of New High-Speed Applications

Ikanos Communications announced today that Dasan Networks, Inc., based in South Korea, is employing Ikanos' 100 Mbps programmable Fx(TM) and FxS(TM) chipsets in its new high-speed Internet access solution. Ikanos is a leading developer and provider of highly programmable semiconductor solutions that enable fiber-fast broadband connections over telephone companies' existing copper lines. Aimed mainly at the worldwide broadband markets, the Dasan Networks solution will enable carriers to offer their Multi-Tenant and Multi-Dwelling Unit (MxU) customers Internet access at speeds of up to 100 Mbps downstream and 50 Mbps upstream over ordinary copper telephone lines.

The Fx(TM) and FxS(TM) Family of Chipsets for Fiber Extension Over Copper Markets include the following products.

-- Fx 10050 and Fx 7030 chipsets for Optical Network Units, Optical Line Terminals ONU/OLT, switches, routers and concentrators.

-- Fx 10050S Subscriber Located Equipment (SLE) for Optical Network Terminals (ONTs).

The SmartLeap(TM) and CleverConnect(TM)Family of Chipsets for VDSL over Copper Markets include the following products.

-- SmartLeap 8100 and SmartLeap 8800 A/VDSL for DSLAMs and Central Office (CO) to Remote Terminal (RT) deployments. Integrates VDSL-DMT and Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) in a single programmable chipset solution.

-- CleverConnect 300 for Customer Premise Equipment (CPE).

The Ikanos Programmable Operating System (iPOS(TM)) chipset firmware offers the high level of programmability required by Ikanos customers to build highly scalable systems for worldwide markets.
