Cambodia: China’s Guangxi TV to Broadcast Programmes in Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh, 21 January: Cambodian Cable TV station signed here on Sunday [21 January] an agreement with China’s Guangxi TV station for the former to spare a channel to broadcast the Chinese TV station’s daily programs to audience in Phnom Penh.
The agreement was signed by the Cambodian TV station’s Chairman Lai Ruide and Fan Huimin, vice-president of the Guangxi TV station in south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Addressing the ceremony, Cambodian Information Minister and government spokesman Kiheu Kanharith said that the cooperation will help promote the friendship and exchange between the two countries.
Lai Ruide said that the cooperation will lay new foundation for the cultural and economic exchange between the two countries and also scored an important stride for TV exchange and cooperation between China and the ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asia Nations) countries.
For his part, Fan Huimin said that the cooperation will contribute to the communication and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.
According to statistics, the Guangxi TV station now has 500 million viewers and the Cambodian TV station boasts the country’s largest cable TV network.
