China Southern Cracks 5 Billion RMB in Internet Sales During '06

China Southern Airlines (NYSE: ZNH) (HKSE: 1055) (SHA: 600029) - www.cs-air.com/en - with the largest and most technically advanced aircraft fleet in The People's Republic of China, is pleased to announce that it finished Year 2006 selling a record 5.47 billion RMB in e-tickets.
China Southern Airlines was the first airline in China to sell an Internet e-ticket in 2000 ... and its commitment to e-ticket sales six years ago is paying major dividends to the nation's largest carrier. As the airline moves toward a 100% ticketless travel environment, China Southern Airlines currently has more than 30% of its overall sales volume sold as e-tickets.
China Southern Airlines is currently only selling e-tickets via its Chinese web site at www.cs-air.com and the 2006 sales of 5.47 billion in RMB ticket sales came predominantly from Chinese airline ticket sales.
With the largest fleet in China with 298 Airbus and Boeing aircraft, China Southern "has embarked on a strategic transformation last year, becoming significantly more efficient by introducing new methods of operation and ticket sales," said Mr. Liu Shaoyong, Chairman, China Southern Airlines.
The airline carried 49.21 million passengers in 2006, with revenue of 46.54 billion RMB or $5.97 billion (USD).
