Three people were killed Monday when a suicide bomber blew himself up near a police checkpoint in the Pakistani city of Dera Ismail Khan.

Witnesses say police had set up a roadblock at the end of a street to search everyone entering the area but the bomber refused to be searched and detonated the explosives strapped to his body, the independent Pakistani TV Network reports.

In addition to the three deaths, seven people were injured in the attack.

In the same area, police and intelligence agents arrested six members of a gang believed responsible for a series of suicide attacks.

Belts of explosives were recovered in the raid along with videos showing the gang’s activities, GEO TV reported.

The six men arrested are believed to belong to a group of local Taliban based in South Waziristan.
