W.Va. State Community College Schedules Workshops

February 1, 2007
Repost This

The following workshops are scheduled this week at West Virginia State Community and Technical College in Institute:

Desktop Publishing

Desktop publishing takes up where your word processor leaves off, to create eye-catching newsletters, flyers, tri-fold brochures, advertisements and banners using Microsoft Publisher.

This workshop is ideal for small business owners and non-profit organizations. It also provides an opportunity for individuals to increase their computer skills for personal enrichment or potential employment opportunities.

Learn the basics of desktop publishing and how to capture attention in a professional way from someone with an extensive background in the field. Free-style and template-based design is shown, as well as how to create columns, manipulate the layout and embellish with graphs, photos, and clip art.

In addition, learn to combine specialty papers with desktop publishing to create business cards, stationery, newsletters, reports and more for your small business or personal use.

The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1 in Room 219 of the Cole Complex on the West Virginia State University campus in Institute.

The registration fee is $55 for the six-hour, hands-on workshop.

Register on-line at www.wvsctc.edu/ContEd.htm. You may also call 304-766-5113 or e-mail workshops@wvsctc.edu to register or for more information.

Attended College But No Degree?

You may have an associate’s degree and not know it.

If you have attended college, but didn’t complete a degree program, come to the Attended College But No Degree workshop and find out how you can complete your degree at WVSCTC.

Have you attended college and earned 30 credit hours or more? This seminar will explain how, with a few selected courses, you may be able to turn those hours into a degree in a new field of study.

The workshop will be held on Thursday, Feb. 1 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Room 112 of the Cole Complex. There is no registration fee for this workshop; however, pre-registration is encouraged so adequate materials are available.

Register on-line at www.wvsctc.edu/ContEd.htm. You may also call 304-766-5113 or e-mail workshops@wvsctc.edu to register or for more information.
