Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Launches Redesigned Web Site

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield has launched a redesigned Web site that will help its customers take advantage of the company's industry-leading online capabilities.
The new site features a simple, colorful design that helps users explore and find information easily. They can navigate the site with the help of user- specific tabs and color-coded sections that get users to the information they are looking for more effectively.
"During the last few years, our Web site has had dramatic growth in the number of visits and in the amount of information and tools available," said Kim Bellard, Highmark's vice president of e-marketing and customer relationship management. "We're confident that the redesigned site will make it easier for users to find information they want as well as encourage additional customers and members to use the site to find answers to their health care and wellness questions."
The redesigned site first impacts the public pages and the post-password pages that are available to members. The redesigned site attractively repackages the many tools that Highmark had previously been offering members to help them perform self-service functions and develop healthier lifestyles.
"Our Web site is an integral part of how we help members have a greater hand in their health," said Bellard. "As members use the Web site to manage their own benefits and wellness, it should positively impact their health as well as the administrative burden on employers."
The post-password pages for employers and producers will be redesigned using the new design in the coming months.
The new site was designed with the help of Pittsburgh-based Ripple Effects Interactive (REI), a full-service interactive consulting, Web design and technology development firm with experience in helping nonprofits and universities with Web design solutions.
Before redesigning the site, Highmark and REI conducted usability tests with group administrators, employers and members and asked individuals who visit the site frequently how they use the site, what tasks they perform, what services they access and what improvements they would suggest.
As a result, convenient user tabs were placed on the top of the home page -- members, Medicare, employers, producers and providers -- to help guide each audience to more information.
"We're excited about the new site and look forward to having even more of our customers take advantage of its features," said Bellard.
